THE three local authorities in the Ohangwena Region — Eenhana, Helao Nafidi and Okongo — have elected their new office-bearers.
At Helao Nafidi, SWAPO councillor Darius Shaalukeni was re-elected as the mayor of the town, deputised by councillor Maria Mbangula, also representing SWAPO.
The Management Committee consists of Ugenia Shinohamba (Chairperson), Ndinelao Matias and Heita Hamunyela — all three representing SWAPO.
Loide Hamutenya (IPC) and Festus Erickson (BCP) are ordinary council members.
At Eenhana, SWAPO councillor Omri-Onn Kavandje was re-elected as mayor. His deputy is SWAPO councillor Selma Pehovelo Inghepa.
Ester Mokaxwa is the Chairperson of the Management Committee, whose other members are Job Nghishongwa and Simon Protasius — all SWAPO.
Ordinary council members are Juuso Keudaneko Mwandingi and Jonas Ngweda Ruben, representing the AR and IPC respectively.
The Okongo Village Council, which has five councillors — four for SWAPO and one for the IPC — has also elected its office-bearers, with Tuhafeni Shapopi and Eunike Shinyongo as Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson respectively.
Ordinary village council members are Lasarus Shapwa, Aina Sheetekela and Paulus Kapolo, the latter being the lone IPC councillor.
