Heavy rainfall leads to the closure of roads in Etosha

Africa-Press – Namibia. THE above-normal rainfall received this past week in the Etosha National Park area has led to the closure of at least five roads, particularly in the Okaukuejo and Ombika areas, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism said in an advisory notice.

The five roads that are temporarily closed include the Wolfness Pan View, the Leeubron, the Ombika Detour, and the Aus/Ondonga Road.

WATERLOGGED WALK: Congregants of this corrugated iron sheet church in the Baghdad location of Oshakati had to walk through water to reach their place of worship this morning.

During the past week, light to heavy showers were recorded across the country.

A heavy downpour in the Oshana Region lasted several hours on Saturday evening.

Residents walking to church this morning were observed struggling to reach their respective destinations as roads were either too muddy or completely covered by rainwater.
