Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, has officially inaugurated the Chief Christian Eerike Zeraeua Police Station in Omatjete, Erongo Region.
In her address, the Minister reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening safety and security, as well as improving service delivery at community level. She underscored the need to uphold law and order, strengthen access to justice and provide effective services, while calling on police officers to cultivate a workplace defined by unity, justice and fundamental values through cooperation and mutual respect.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security revealed that the newly completed facility includes a charge office with eight offices, holding rooms, a mortuary, three three-bedroom residential units, barracks comprising ten rooms, and three holding cells, among other features. The police station has also been provided with one vehicle.
The police station will provide a range of services, including the reporting and investigation of criminal cases, support to victims of crime, certification of documents, police declarations and affidavits, the detention and processing of suspects, crime prevention initiatives, community policing, and other general law enforcement functions.
Speaking at the same event, Erongo Regional Governor Natalia ǀGoagoses urged the Omatjete community to take responsibility for maintaining and protecting the facility, refrain from its misuse, and cooperate fully with police officers.
