Africa-Press – Namibia. Okahandja United secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Bucks Buccaneers in a Namibia Premier Football League (NPFL) clash played on Saturday afternoon at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek.

Head coach of Bucks Buccaneers Anderson Phiri stressed the importance of his side maintaining focus as the season progresses.

Phiri noted that the league remains wide open, with many matches still to be played.

He urged his players to remain focused. In another NPFL encounter, defending champions African Stars continued their impressive form with a 2-0 win over Khomas Nampol.

Stars head coach Agnus Elemu commended his players’ discipline and mentality, saying the team approaches each match with the same focus.

“As champions, we always tell the players to take it one match at a time. At the end of the day, the goal is to collect maximum points,” Elemu said. Following Saturday’s results, African Stars were leading the log standings, with further matches scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

Khomas Nampol FC coach Fortune Eichab attributed his side’s defeat partly to the wet conditions.

“The rain didn’t make it easy for us to play,” he said.

“We created numerous chances but failed to convert them. It was a good performance, but we need to wake up and regroup.

We still have 42 points and more football to come. Every time we play Stars, it’s raining. Maybe we need to start training in the rain,” he added.
