Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMIBIA has positioned itself as an investor-ready destination for mining and industrial development, calling for global partnerships to drive beneficiation, energy security and inclusive growth at the Investing in African Mining Indaba 2026 in Cape Town.
Speaking at the Namibia Country Showcase session, Namibia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Nangula Frieda Ithete, said the country’s development agenda under the 8th Administration is anchored on “Growth at Home, Value at Home, and Opportunity for the Namibian People”. She stressed that Namibia is repositioning itself from being merely an extractive resource economy to becoming a strategic partner in industrialisation.
Deputy Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Gaudentia Kröhne, outlined Namibia’s investment proposition, highlighting policy certainty, regulatory stability and institutional credibility as key factors that make the country investor-ready. She said Namibia is committed to moving beyond raw mineral exports through beneficiation and value addition, promoting local processing and manufacturing.
Kröhne said that Namibia plays a strategic role in the global energy transition as the world’s third-largest uranium producer, while also being endowed with critical minerals such as lithium, rare earth elements and copper. She said the country aims to leverage uranium and renewable energy resources to position itself as an integrated industrial hub.
Mining remains a cornerstone of Namibia’s economy, contributing to growth, employment and exports. Kröhne said Namibia is open for business across the entire mining value chain, from exploration and mine development to processing, beneficiation and downstream industries.
She further emphasised government’s commitment to formalising and supporting artisanal and small-scale mining to improve livelihoods, enhance safety and environmental compliance, and promote inclusive growth, particularly for youth and women.
“Namibia stands at the threshold of a new phase where resources fuel industrial growth, energy security and shared prosperity,” Kröhne said, calling on international investors to partner with Namibia in its industrialisation journey.
The presentation formed part of Namibia’s “Invest in Namibia” session held on the margins of the Investing in African Mining Indaba 2026 in Cape Town.
