Africa-Press – Namibia. Swapo in Kavango West plans to construct eight district offices, one in each constituency, regional coordinator Elina Magano Diparo revealed on Friday in Nkurenkuru.
She said this is a priority project for between 2026 and 2028, as the region currently has no district offices.
“This is a three-year strategic project, and it is one of the most important undertakings of our region at the moment,” Diparo said.
Diparo announced a handover of food parcels valued at N.dollars 3 000 to 20 individuals, a donation facilitated by the Swapo Party Women’s Council national executive committee.
“We do not have a single district office in our region; all our party activities are conducted under trees, while our commitment and revolutionary spirit remain strong,” she said.
She said the absence of proper infrastructure continues to undermine administration and outreach.
“The only office currently serving the whole Kavango West people is the regional office in Nkurenkuru, and the region is big, which is not sufficient to meet the needs of all the Swapo districts. This situation limits our growth, coordination, mobilisation and services to our members,” she said.
According to Diparo, the planned buildings will follow a single prototype. “The plan of the building project is a prototype plan, meaning all eight offices will be built the same, with a boardroom, two offices and two toilets outside, and a fence,” she said.
She called on party structures to prepare suitable land for the buildings. “I’m humbly requesting all district coordinators to identify and secure land by obtaining necessary permits from traditional and local authorities,” Diparo said.
“What we build between 2026 and 2028 will serve the party for decades to come,” Diparo added, urging members to take responsibility for the party’s development agenda.
“The future of Swapo Party is in our hands; henceforth, you do not need to be spectators but participate fully in all spheres of development of our party,” she said.
No budget figures or contractor details were disclosed, with Diparo saying the party will embark on mobilisation to acquire funds and sponsorship. Further timelines and constituency-specific schedules are expected as land approvals progress.
