Africa-Press – Namibia. Erongo Red has launched a new mobile application aimed at making electricity services more accessible and convenient for its over 53 000 customers. The app allows clients to buy prepaid electricity, pay bills, check balances, report faults, and receive power outage notifications from anywhere.

CEO Tino !Hanabeb said the launch marks a significant milestone for the company. “After many months of hard work behind the scenes, we are finally here. Today, we proudly unveil the mobile app, bringing innovation closer to our consumers and transforming the way we connect and serve,” he said.

!Hanabeb highlighted that the app was developed entirely by Namibian graduates and at a fraction of the original estimated cost.

“While the original estimates exceeded N$5 million, through our MoU with MTC, the app was developed at only N$500 000. Once fully operational, it could generate savings of up to N$6 million depending on customer uptake,” he said.

MTC’s manager for digital Transformation, Nawa Likando, said the app isn’t just a digital platform but a customer-centric solution designed to simplify life.

According to Likando the mobile app also shows the importance of collaboration in driving innovation. “When two organizations share a common purpose, the outcomes can only be remarkable. Together, we’re laying the groundwork for a smarter, more connected nation,” he said.
