Africa-Press – Namibia. A HIGH-LEVEL European Union (EU) delegation will visit Namibia from 17 to 19 September 2025 to strengthen ties and assess EU-backed projects under the Global Gateway strategy, which supports Namibia’s green industrialisation, job creation, and growth.
The delegation will include EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jozef Síkela, the chair of the European Parliament’s Development Committee Barry Andrews, and eight senior Members of Parliament. Their programme features meetings with President Nangolo Mbumba, government officials, civil society, and the private sector, along with site visits to EU-supported projects.
Commissioner Síkela said the visit underscores the EU’s commitment to working with Namibia to unlock opportunities through investments in infrastructure, skills development, and social projects. “Together with Namibia’s leadership and the firepower of European companies and the local private sector, we want to drive meaningful and sustainable impact, advancing shared goals of prosperity and green development,” he said.
Andrews added that the mission highlights the European Parliament’s support for the UN Sustainable Development Goals. “At a time of growing global insecurity, our commitment to building relations with countries such as Namibia is more important than ever,” he said.
The EU and Namibia mark 35 years of bilateral relations this year, with the EU remaining Namibia’s largest trade and development partner.
