Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>A GROUP at Swakopmund plans to impact the lives of pupils positively through the gospel this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

One Hope, which embarked on a youth programme to share the word of God with Erongo pupils late last year, said young people are eager to hear about the love of God. The group resumes its visits to various schools at the coast this month, to fellowship with the pupils during break time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe normally set up a small band and do a show for the kids with a dance competition and a short Bible story. Pupils are in desperate need of attention. What is great about our material is that it is free and we can leave the workbooks with them to go through.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have a big heart and desire to impact the next generation through the word of God and try to give the kids a solid foundation about God,\u201d said group leader Freddie van Niekerk last month.<\/p>\n

In addition, the group also started a weekly feeding programme at Swakopmund three years ago. It is connected to the One Hope organisation from the United States, which supplies Bible materials to supplement feeding the children with guidance.<\/p>\n

The materials include Bible App booklets, stories and puzzles. \u201cWe hope that invitations will come this year. We would like to have sessions at every school in the region. We work with teachers to teach them how to use the material at their own pace and time if we cannot be there,\u201d said Van Niekerk. Teachers and principals at the Swakopmund schools visited by the team said they have seen a transformation in the pupils.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have seen a number of pupils enjoying the fellowship sessions that are offered, and some children are really encouraged. It is good to see some even sharing testimonies of their own lives with others. Fellowship is really impacting them positively,\u201d said Namib High School principal Rosemary September on Friday.<\/p>\n

Coastal High School teacher Koos Calitz said he observed that the sessions give hope to pupils. \u201cHis worship and motivation sessions (Van Niekerk) are really having a positive impact on the pupils. He came with messages of hope after the series of lockdown periods, when pupils needed motivation. They have a sense of belonging and hope,\u201d said Calitz on Saturday.<\/p>\n
