NAMIBIA is stepping up its safety and security efforts by recruiting, training, and deploying new defence and security personnel.<\/p>\n

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah said in her State of the Nation Address on Wednesday that a total of 1,779 cadet constables have graduated from the Police Basic Training Course 2024\/2025 and are now deployed nationwide.<\/p>\n

The Namibia Correctional Service has appointed 426 officers, and the Namibian Defence Force has provided combat and academic skills training to 2,419 members, while 1,705 youths are currently undergoing basic military training and are expected to graduate next month.<\/p>\n

The President said that the NDF\u2019s next intake will comprise 1,500 young recruits, including 600 National Youth Service graduates. The aim is to strengthen and rejuvenate the force, said the President.<\/p>\n

According to her, the NDF has a secondary role, namely to provide support during national disasters like floods, droughts, and veld fires.<\/p>\n

It is also involved in self-sustenance initiatives such as uniform production, infrastructure development, logistics services, and technology innovation to enhance its capabilities.<\/p>\n
