{"id":101168,"date":"2026-04-20T14:39:42","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T14:39:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/social-security-guns-for-gold"},"modified":"2026-04-20T14:56:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T14:56:37","slug":"social-security-guns-for-gold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/social-security-guns-for-gold","title":{"rendered":"Social Security Guns for Gold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia. <\/strong><\/span><b>Auleria Wakudumo<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Social Security Commission (SSC) has intensified its digital transformation drive with the launch of an improved digital platform, aimed at enhancing service delivery and strengthening revenue collection.<\/p>\n<p>The revamped digital platform, \u2018mySSC 2.0\u2019, alongside the rollout of Self-Service Point (SSP) machines, has been officially launched across its offices nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>The latest development builds on the commission\u2019s ongoing digital journey, which began gaining momentum in 2023 following the unveiling of its 2023\/2024-2027\/2028 strategic business plan.<\/p>\n<p>The minister of justice and labour relations, Fillemon Wise Immanuel, described the SSC as a trendsetter in digital innovation within the public sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDigital channels will ensure faster, more accessible and equitable services while contributing to socio-economic development, strengthening social protection and improving access to justice,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The minister further urged institutions across Namibia to embrace digital innovation as a catalyst for socio-economic development.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that adopting modern technologies is essential to strengthening social protection systems, improving access to justice and safeguarding the dignity of citizens.<\/p>\n<p>SSC CEO Milka Mungunda said the platform is not entirely new but an upgraded version designed to improve efficiency and modernise operations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is not a completely new system but an improved platform that will enhance how we operate and also strengthen the way we collect our revenue,\u201d Mungunda said.<\/p>\n<p>A key highlight of the commission\u2019s digital evolution is the revamped mySSC 2.0, an upgraded self-service portal that gives employers greater control over employee records.<\/p>\n<p>The platform allows employers to update salary information, temporarily suspend employees and add new staff remotely.<\/p>\n<p>The mySSC 2.0 pilot project was first introduced on 15 September 2023.<\/p>\n<p>It enables stakeholders to access balances for both the employee compensation fund and the maternity, sick and death fund.<\/p>\n<p>Users are also able to submit outstanding form 10s and wage returns, as well as register employers and employees through dedicated digital channels.<\/p>\n<p>Complementing this system is the introduction of the Self-Serve Point (SSP), a digital self-service machine launched in September 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The SSP provides a wide range of services, including checking fund balances, making payments, terminating employee records and submitting outstanding documentation.<\/p>\n<p>The commission has also adopted Microsoft Dynamics 365, a digital tool introduced in September 2023 to streamline mass communication and simplify event planning processes within the organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Mungunda said the SSC is expected to significantly reduce long queues, minimise paperwork and bring services closer to the public, particularly those in remote areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Namibia<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia.
