Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>OF the 12 deaths recorded in the last 24-hour reporting cycle, four were from the Outapi district. None of the 12 deceased were vaccinated. Three deaths were reported from the Oshikuku district, two from Rundu and one each from Oshakati, Okakarara and Onandjokwe.<\/p>\n

Four deaths occurred at home of which two are from the Outapi district and one each from the Oshikuku and Okakarara districts. This was announced by Health Minister Dr Kalumbi Shangula in his daily national update on Covid-19.<\/p>\n

By 20 January, a total of 414 050 people aged 18 years and older have received one dose of the vaccine, representing 28.1% of the target adult population of 1 471 973.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe announce 173 positive cases from 1 344 results, which represents a 12.9% positivity ratio,\u201d the Minister said. Of these, 171 are new cases and two re-infections. The ages range from two months to 97 years. The Omusati region reported 60, constituting 35.1% of the total cases, followed by Otjozondjupa with 20, constituting 11.7% of the total cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cAmong the confirmed cases are 44 learners from different schools, four teachers and five health care workers. Of the total confirmed cases, 149 cases are not vaccinated, accounting for 86.1%,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n

There were 182 recovered cases from ten regions. The number of active cases is 8 647. Currently, 238 cases are hospitalized of which 91.6% are not vaccinated. Of the 29 cases in Intensive Care Units, only two are vaccinated.<\/p>\n

By 20 January, a total of 354 957 people aged 18 years and older were fully vaccinated, translating to 20% of the total target population, while 715 children aged 12 to 17 were fully vaccinated, and 13 154 people received a booster dose.<\/p>\n
