Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>KARIBU Fishing Pty (Ltd) recently donated N$90 000 to four rural schools in the Zambezi region.<\/b><\/p>\n

This will be used to address various challenges experienced at these schools. The schools are Kasibi Junior Primary, Liswani III Primary, Mahundu Primary, and Mbambazi Primary. Each will receive N$22 500. Karibu Fishing was founded on the principle of women empowerment, and as such, most of its shareholders are women.<\/p>\n

The company’s chairperson, Rachel Kamwi, during the handing-over ceremony said they felt the need to give back to the community, because if they do not take care of their own, nobody will.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe chose the education fraternity because they really need help. They say an educated nation is a powerful nation. The money has already been deposited into the schools’ accounts, and we hope you will make use of it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Zambezi regional governor Lawrence Sampofu said the donation could not have come at a better time, because the education sector is experiencing a lack of resources.<\/p>\n

He said these challenges include a lack of classrooms, chairs, desks for teachers and pupils, as well as computer equipment, stationery, and textbooks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate the management of Karibu Fishing company for listening to the cry of the beneficiaries. I would also like to call on the education fraternity to embrace this donation and use it as intended,\u201d he said. Education director Jost Kawana also expressed gratitude towards Karibu Fishing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are often criticised that the region is not performing well by people who are not coming on board to support the directorate. Therefore, we are happy and humbled by the positive response to our request by the Karibu Fishing company,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
