Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>MIHE Gaomab II, the chief executive officer of the Namibia Industrialisation and Development Agency (Nida), says the agency has drafted plans to improve its overall contribution to the economy.<\/b><\/p>\n

He says Nida needs to work towards ensuring stronger support and advisory services on industrialisation.<\/p>\n

The agency needs to play a supportive and advisory role, Gaomab says.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe enabling strategic imperatives for Nida is pressing in its nature for now to contribute to its economy. We have started with a dedicated integrative strategic plan we are trying to finalise.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are using the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Enterprises to get around the situational and operational environment we are operating in,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Gaomab says the essence of Nida’s strategic integrative plan looks at the agency’s organisational requirements to go ahead with the plan.<\/p>\n

He says this would help the agency determine where it stands and what it needs to deliver on its plan.<\/p>\n

The agency is considering the objective of the Nida Act, which is to provide a strong advisory role in industrialisation, Gaomab says.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis may entail establishing a one-stop centre for prospective investors, and we are doing this in collaboration with the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are considering ourselves as the base of investment, because we have infrastructure and land available, as well as the industrial capacity,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Gaomab says the NIPDB is facilitating the flow of investments into the country so that Nida makes investors feel at home with the infrastructure the agency provides.<\/p>\n

Responding to claims that Nida warehouses around the country are underutilised, he says the agency is new, and the maintenance and management of those structures were poor under its previous management.<\/p>\n

Nida’s chief says the agency has new business infrastructure in place, a strategic business unit in terms of grapes and general farming production.<\/p>\n
