Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>NETHERLANDS prime minister Mark Rutte has reportedly indicated that he plans to travel to Namibia in the near future to strengthen economic ties, particularly on green hydrogen.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to Netherlands News Live, the premier strives for \u201cequal cooperation\u201d in the production and supply of green hydrogen. \u201cNamibia can become a very big player,\u201d Rutte said after the two-day European Union-Africa summit in Brussels, where he extensively discussed the intended cooperation with president Hage Geingob.<\/p>\n

In November, the Netherlands’ then secretary of state for climate, Dilan Yes\u00b8ilg\u00f6z-Zegerius, and a Namibian official signed an agreement on the supply of green hydrogen at the climate summit in Glasgow.<\/p>\n

Namibia has also been in contact with the Delft University of Technology and the port of Rotterdam, Rutte said. For the Netherlands to go green, enormous amounts of green hydrogen would be needed in the long term, which the country cannot sufficiently produce itself.<\/p>\n

According to the prime minister, cooperation between the Netherlands and Namibia could result in a \u201cwin-win situation\u201d. \u201cWe need each other and can offer each other something,\u201d Rutte said. Green hydrogen does not cause harmful emissions and can be produced in various ways.<\/p>\n
