Africa-Press<\/a> – Namibia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>FlyWestair last week launched two new destinations to Rundu and Katima Mulilo with inaugural flights for the media. Departing from Eros Airport in Windhoek on 24 and 25 August, these new scheduled routes connect Namibians and visitors between the capital and the north-eastern regions and beyond.<\/p>\n

FlyWestair says it now offers two weekly flight services between Rundu and Windhoek, as well as three weekly flights between Katima Mulilo and Windhoek, thereby opening up the region for tourism and trade.<\/p>\n

These destinations are integral hubs for many of the nation\u2019s north-eastern citizens. FlyWestair said it is continuing its pledge to support and connect Namibians through the speed and efficiency availed by air travel. Katima Mulilo, the capital of the Zambezi region, is an important gateway to other SADC nations, notably Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The introduction of these two destinations is also expected to bring much-needed relief to the weight of travel for those who live in the regions and conduct business. The new routes are expected to be a huge boost for the area\u2019s tourism industry, which has been adversely affected by the Covid pandemic. To further promote tourism in the area, FlyWestair has partnered with The Gondwana Collection and its lodges in an effort to boost visitors to the regions.<\/p>\n

The introduction of Katima Mulilo and Rundu is also expected to ease travel for visitors to Namibia who would like to include the Kavango and Zambezi regions in their itineraries. The media was hosted on the inaugural flight to show just how easy and fast it will now be to get to this part of the country from Windhoek.<\/p>\n

He added that the airline remains focused on assisting the Namibian travel and aviation industry to recover in a post-Covid environment.
