Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>World football governing body Fifa this week came to the aid of dismayed Namibia Football Association (NFA) employees, whose salaries for February were delayed. This publication reported on Tuesday this week that a horde of NFA employees were up in arms and left to kick their heels in sheer frustration over the delayed payment of salaries for February, which the office of the secretary general at the time indicated that wages would only be paid after a few days as there were no funds.<\/p>\n

But as of yesterday, after days of downcast spirits within the corridors of Football House in Katutura, NFA\u2019s marketing and communication manager Cassius Moetie shared with New Era Sport that Fifa had finally transferred the funds needed to pay the employees delayed wages for February.<\/p>\n

An internal memo to that effect was sent yesterday to all NFA staff and it reads as follows: \u201cFurther to the previous communication with regard to the delay in salaries payments, we have the pleasure to inform you that Fifa has remitted the funds earmarked for salaries for the month of February 2022, therefore, payroll will be processed immediately for payment of salaries today (yesterday).<\/p>\n

The NFA as a responsible employer engaged all commercial banks to consider reversing the fees and charges incurred on your accounts due to the delay in receiving funds from Fifa.\u201d It continues: \u201cThe NFA acknowledges that the situation was far from ideal and we shall endeavour to avoid reoccurrence of this situation in future. Again, we would like to apologise for the inconveniences caused to all our employees.<\/p>\n

We thank you for your patience and understanding during these trying times.\u201d<\/p>\n
