Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Hage Geingob has extended his condolences to the family of former minister Immanuel Ngatjizeko who passed away on 5 March at the age of 69. \u201cI received, with immense sadness, the news about the passing of one of Namibia\u2019s brave freedom fighters and committed sons, Honourable Immanuel Ngatjizeko,\u201d the President said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe late Immanuel Ngatjizeko has served Namibia and her people with dedication and commitment for many years when he served as SWAPO Organiser since 1978. He carried out all his responsibilities of a freedom fighter and member of the Namibian cabinet with great passion and commitment, inspired by his love for his country and people. His passing is a great loss to our nation,\u201d Geingob said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of the Namibian people and the Government, I extend sincere condolences to the wife, Mrs Annalise Uri Ngatjizeko, the children and the entire bereaved family. May God grant you comfort during this difficult time of grief.\u201d<\/p>\n

After independence, Ngatjizeko was elected to the SWAPO Party Central Committee in 1991 and to the SWAPO Party Politburo in 2007. He became a Member of Parliament after he was appointed Director-General of the National Commission.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonourable Ngatjizeko served the people of Namibia through various portfolios such as Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Director-General of the National Planning Commission, Minister of Trade and Industry, Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Minister of Safety and Security, Minister of Industrialisation and Trade and, lastly, as Minister of Presidential Affairs, the portfolio he held until he resigned from office for health reasons,\u201d Geingob said.<\/p>\n
