Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>AN event to celebrate the achievements of women in Namibia will take place at The Village in Windhoek tomorrow.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event, titled ‘Women Who Rock’, is organised by entrepreneurship consultancy Dololo and Start-Up Namibia, and is a GIZ project under the patronage of the presidential adviser on youth matters and enterprise development, Daisry Mathias.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe created this platform to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women in Namibia, as there are countless outstanding women in this country,\u201d organiser Meike Neitz, digital ambassador at GIZ, says.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea is also to learn from one another, to exchange ideas, experiences, talk about struggles and how to overcome them, to help all women reach their full potential,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Speakers include minister of justice Yvonne Dausab, Stacey Pinto, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Namibia Trade Forum, Nicole Maske, the managing director of EOS Capital, Anicia Peters, the chairperson of the 4IR task force, Marita Walther, the cofounder and managing director of E-Bikes4Africa, Kauna Ndlilula, the managing director of BFS, Lisa Matomola, the founder of Hito HR, Chantal Claassen, the chief operating officer of Dololo, and Vivienne Katjiuongua, the CEO of the Business and Intellectual Property Authority.<\/p>\n

‘Women Who Rock’ brings together bosses, entrepreneurs, leaders, and those who are just starting out, Neitz says.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all need to ask ourselves: How can we make sure our daughters grow up in a gender-equal world with the same opportunities, pay and safety? Much has been achieved in terms of gender parity and equality which is worth celebrating, however, a lot more work is required to achieve equity.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur event seeks to address topics such as digital and financial literacy among women, domestic violence, how gender equality can be achieved, and how more female-led businesses can be founded.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mathias, who will deliver opening remarks at the event, says: \u201cAchieving our collective national vision of inclusive growth and shared prosperity requires us to remove barriers and provide the necessary support for Namibia’s demographic majority, women, to progress academically, socially, economically and politically.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmpowering women and girls is an investment that has triple dividends for the society of today, the children of tomorrow, and the next generation of women.\u201d<\/p>\n

The organisers emphasise it is not a women-only event, and welcome all men who wish to participate.<\/p>\n
