Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The High Court, in a writ of execution issued on 20 October 2020, has given the Namibia Football Association (NFA) the legal powers to auction off a vehicle belonging to the Namibia Premier League (NPL) as part of the FA\u2019s efforts to recoup money from the NPL.<\/p>\n

The latest court decision, which has set 1 April 2022 as the official auction date, stems from a lengthy 2020 legal tussle between the two football bodies, at which time the NPL fought to have its suspension by the NFA annulled by the courts.<\/p>\n

The High Court recused itself from the legal battle as it cited a lack of jurisdiction to hear the matter, which left the NPL with no choice but to approach the Supreme Court. The country\u2019s highest court ruled in favour of the NFA \u2013 a decision that marked the permanent divorce between the NPL and the NFA.<\/p>\n

It was also ruled that the NPL should bear the NFA\u2019s legal costs, and it is what the FA is now seeking through its latest High Court order. The legal fees were at the time reported to be around N$780 000.<\/p>\n

The NFA has since been given the green light to auction off a Toyota Corolla sedan (number plate NPL-NA) to the highest bidder on 1 April 2022 at the Brakwater auction grounds. The NFA was represented by lawyers Sisa Namandje & Co.<\/p>\n
