Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>ZENATHA Coleman and Fenerbah\u00e7e condemned the violence meted out against them by Amed SF at the end of their Turkish Women’s Football Super League clash on Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Fenerbah\u00e7e won the ill-tempered affair 2-1 thanks to goals from Erin Yenney and Kennya Cordner.<\/p>\n

According to a report on sondakika.com, missiles rained down on Fenerbah\u00e7e players and staff soon after they went 2-1 up in the dying moments of the match.<\/p>\n

Trinidad and Tobago international Cordner converted the winning effort from a penalty kick awarded in the sixth minute of added time after Coleman was upended in the Amed box.<\/p>\n

This sparked turbulence in the stands, with the violence spilling onto the pitch as Amed players and officials physically assaulted the visiting side.<\/p>\n

Fenerbah\u00e7e fans were reportedly also attacked by the home side’s unruly supporters in an incident that required police intervention.<\/p>\n

Some Fenerbah\u00e7e players and technical staff shared images of injuries sustained during the attack on social media.<\/p>\n

Coleman, who has been a revelation for the Turkish side since joining in January, took to Twitter to voice her outrage after the match.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is disgraceful, we were attacked by the opposition team and fans threw cans, bottles and stones at us. We had to be escorted back to the locker room by the police. But we remain #Fenerbah\u00e7e,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The referee ended the contest prematurely after the field became engulfed in chaos.<\/p>\n

The results sees second-placed Fenerbah\u00e7e maintain pressure on Be\u015fikta\u015f, who have a game in hand.<\/p>\n

Be\u015fikta\u015f have 45 points from 16 matches, two more than Fenerbah\u00e7e.<\/p>\n

Amed SF have had a frustrating season thus far and lie eighth, with 13 points from 17 matches to their name so far.<\/p>\n

Those frustrations should not be expressed in the form of violence, Fenerbah\u00e7e High Council board member Sait Y\u0131lmaz said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strongly condemn the attacks on our Fenerbah\u00e7e women’s football team during the Amed Sportive Activities match. As Fenerbah\u00e7e community, we announce to the public that we will follow the event and we will not give up on this matter,\u201d Yilmaz said.<\/p>\n

The club said the events were \u201cundesirable and unacceptable\u201d and demanded that the Turkish Football Federation take serious action.<\/p>\n

\u201c… the attack they made on our athletes and the events that followed, three red cards shown by the referee, while our athletes were battered, and the atmosphere of fighting, ranging from throwing bricks from the stands, is embarrassing for Turkish sports,\u201d Fenerbah\u00e7e said in statement on its website.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Fenerbah\u00e7e Sports Club, we invite the Turkish Football Federation to take action so that every person who has a share in this ugly attack, especially the person from the rival team who started this attack, Sultan Demir, who does not suit the sport, takes the necessary punishment. We expect it to be examined, researched and disclosed to the public as meticulously and seriously as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
