Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Ongwediva Town council remains adamant to address the housing backlog, through land delivery to needy residents. Acting Chief Executive Officer Immanuel Nakale, said during the financial year 2021\/22 council has put aside N$ 3.5 million for land delivery projects alone.<\/p>\n

Nakale stated that the council intends to develop Erven 230 and 231 at the outskirts of Efidi Extension Proper. Thus far, council has concluded the planning process that will result in the creation of Efidi Extension 6 with 103 residential erven.<\/p>\n

He said Council has also resolved to incorporate additional land as part of the township establishment of Efidi Extension 6 in order to increase the total number of erven to over 200.<\/p>\n

\u201cA new application for statutory approval will be submitted to the Regional and Urban planning board before the end of the current financial year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that a total of 103 residential ervens were allocated to National Housing Enterprise (NHE) for construction of houses at Efidi Extension 6. However, the council and NHE await township establishment to commence.<\/p>\n

Further, Nakale stated that a new residential area consisting of 170 erven is on the cards at Onawa Proper. \u201cA layout has been prepared and an environmental impact assessment conducted. Cadastral survey will follow soon after the statutory approval of the township,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Nakale indicated that the Omatando area has also generated over 2 000 plots for the residents. He noted that Council also intended to budget in the financial year 2022\/23 funds to be used for land delivery.<\/p>\n
