Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE National Assembly has come forth with information regarding corrupt practices stating there have been some cases of financial irregularities involving three staff members who misappropriated N$1 243 107.94 from it. This is after allegations of the alleged corrupt practices were aired by Affirmative Repositioning activist Job Amupanda.<\/p>\n

In a press statement, the National Assembly noted that it does not cover up, nor condone, corrupt activities and shared that the allegations levelled against the institution are devoid of any truth and only seek to mislead the public. The National Assembly further noted that these cases were dealt with in accordance with the set regulations governing institutions of government.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe institution has taken appropriate measures to recover these funds, as per State Finance Act, Act 31 of 1991, and the Treasury Instructions under Section E A 0302, for otherwise safeguarding the interest of the State,\u201d the National Assembly shared.<\/p>\n

It was shared that one of the implicated staff members has been discharged and money has been recovered from the member\u2019s pension. Another staff member has resigned and money has been recovered from his pension and leave gratuity. The third staff member has also resigned and the recovery process of state monies involved is underway.<\/p>\n
