Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Hage Geingob says trade fairs should not be seen as mere marketing platforms, but as conduits for business innovation and catalysts for diversified economic growth.<\/b><\/p>\n

Geingob was speaking at the official opening of the Opuwo Annual Trade Fair on Friday.<\/p>\n

He said such events should generate new ways of contributing to socio-economic development and the rebuilding of the local economy of Opuwo and the Kunene region.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the same vein, we must embrace the advent of the fourth Industrial Revolution and harness the potential new technologies offered to remain competitive in the global economy,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Geingob urged those operating within the information and communication technology space to extend such technologies to the town and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

The president said he is pleased to note that the private sector continues to provide invaluable support to the Opuwo Trade Fair.<\/p>\n

He said this makes the fair the premier regional platform for both established and fledgling companies to broaden their appeal locally, regionally and internationally.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis vital skills transfer will equip our local farmers with the necessary skills to enhance competence as a means of unlocking economic potential in the agricultural sector,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
