Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>NAMIBIAN Police inspector general Sebastian Ndeitunga has urged women in the police force to be patient and wait for their turn to be promoted.<\/b><\/p>\n

This follows the promotion of four male members of the force to higher ranks this week.<\/p>\n

Some women in the police force, who spoke to The Namibian on condition of anonymity, are not happy with the side-lining of female cops.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy last promotion to the rank of a deputy commissioner was in 2010. I have worked hard but maybe not hard enough, as young people who join the force get promoted above me,\u201d said one officer.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is maybe the advice that he (Ndeitunga) got from his advisers. But he could have included at least one female member,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n

Ndeitunga advised the female officers not to jump the gun, as the deployment and promotions are not yet finalised.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is just a drop in the ocean that you are talking about. The big wave is coming. You people should wait. They (women) are angry because they are impatient and they are emotional. They should wait,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Erongo regional commander commissioner Andreas Nelumbu has been appointed as the police attach\u00e9 to Luanda, Angola, replacing commissioner Nicholas Endjala, who has retired.<\/p>\n

Khomas regional crime coordinator deputy commissioner Nikolaus Kupembona replaces Nelumbu.<\/p>\n

Kupembona has also been promoted to the rank of commissioner.<\/p>\n

Deputy commissioner Chrispin Mubebo has been transferred from \/\/Kharas region and appointed as the new Khomas regional crime coordinator, replacing Kupembona.<\/p>\n

Chief inspector Nicodemus Mbango, a staff officer at the Otjozondjupa crime coordinator’s office, replaces Mubebo.<\/p>\n

Mbango has been promoted to a deputy commissioner.<\/p>\n

These changes are effective 1 June.<\/p>\n
