Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade will host a seminar for Namibian entrepreneurs at Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa region tomorrow.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a statement issued by ministry spokesperson Elijah Mukubonda, the seminar will be held in collaboration with the United Nations (UN) office of supply chain management enabling and outreach services.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe objective of the seminar is to increase the entrepreneurs’ awareness of business opportunities within the United Nations, including insight on UN procurement values, policies, processes, buying profiles and registration processes,\u201d the statement says.<\/p>\n

Mukubonda says the targeted beneficiaries are entrepreneurs from the air transportation services sector, information and communication technology, fuel procurement and distribution, chemicals and petroleum products, food rations and catering, prefabricated buildings, and motor vehicle, parts and transportation equipment sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlso included on the list are entrepreneurs in the electronic data processing equipment and maintenance sector, telecommunications equipment and services provision, architecture, engineering and construction services, freight forwarding and delivery sectors, air conditioning, heating and plumbing, building management and maintenance, security and safety equipment, and service provision sectors,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n

Stakeholders from the listed economic sectors are expected to be registered with the Business and Intellectual Property Authority (Bipa), and to have a physical office.<\/p>\n

\u201cCompliance\/good standing certificates from the Namibia Revenue Agency (Namra), Social Security Commission, and Bipa will be an advantage for stakeholders who must also give a business description of goods and services supplied, a company profile and a website.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost importantly, women-owned businesses and disability-inclusive suppliers are encouraged to apply,\u201d the statement says.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn our journey for industrialisation, the ministry will continue to implement practical policies aimed at encouraging investment, industrialisation and economic growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to put measures in place to support local micro, small and medium enterprises so they can become more profitable and effectively participate in the country’s mainstream economy. It is in this association that we recognise the critical role of entrepreneurs in the socio-economic development and economic diversification of the country,\u201d the statement says.<\/p>\n
