Africa-Press<\/a> – Namibia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>NAMIBIAN youth athletes continue to harvest gold in track and field events all over the world, with the Namibian U\/15 team raking in five gold medals, five silver medals and one bronze medal this week alone in Belgrade, Serbia.<\/p>\n

The Namibian U\/15s kicked off the World School Sports Games with discus throw, with Leane Boshoff winning gold in the girls\u2019 competition. Ruano de Carvalho snatched gold in the 100m sprint, while Magano Naseb walked away with gold in the 200m sprint and Stephanus Burger grabbing gold in shotput.<\/p>\n

De Carvalho and Naseb each scooped their second gold medal in the 4x100m relay, along with Zack von Wielligh and Jano Erasmus. Naseb also collected a silver medal in the boys\u2019 long jump and Wielligh scooped a silver medal in the boys 300m hurdles.<\/p>\n

Erastus got a bronze medal in the boys 300m hurdles. Waldre Kotze gave Namibia another silver medal when he threw a distance of 50.97m in the boys\u2019 discus throw.<\/p>\n

The girls\u2019 4x100m sprinters from Namibia, consisting of Epifania Johannes, Evandre Farmer, Liina Nanhele and Anine le Roux collected silver. Johannes also collected a second silver medal in the girls 200m finals.<\/p>\n

The surge of medals comes in the wake of two other young sprinters, Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi, setting the international women\u2019s sprinting competition ablaze following their performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.<\/p>\n

During the competition, Mboma won a silver medal in the 200m finals, while Masilingi made it to the finals, effectively ending Namibia\u2019s 25 year Olympic medal dry spell. The medals continued to flow at the World Athletics U20 Championships, as well as the Diamond League, and the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.<\/p>\n

Namibians will also be holding their breaths tonight for another world class performance from the 200m sprint sensation, Mboma, during her Continental Tour event in Zagreb, Croatia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
