Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>NAMPOWER has blamed the partial nationwide powder outage experienced around midday to a voltage line collapse on the 220 kV Aggeneis-Harib which supplies the country electricity from South Africa.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a media statement issued by NamPower’s corporate communication and marketing manager Tangeni Kambangula, the 220 kV line was overloaded because the 400 kV line, from which the country is normally supplied, has been out of service since Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

She explained that a surge arrestor (a protective device for limiting voltage on equipment by bypassing or discharging large electricity flow), blew up on the South African side of the line.<\/p>\n

\u201cPower supply is currently being restored in phases to the affected areas, with Windhoek<\/p>\n

having been the first to be restored, followed by Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. Our<\/p>\n

technical team is hard at work to ensure that power supply is completely restored to all<\/p>\n

the affected areas,\u201d said Kambangula.<\/p>\n

\u201cNamPower apologises to its customers and the public for any inconvenience that the<\/p>\n
