Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Kuzeeko Tjitemisa<\/b><\/p>\n

International relations minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has encouraged heads of diplomatic missions assigned to Namibia to explore the country, saying it is a vast country with cities, towns and villages that are all unique in their own special way.<\/p>\n

\u201cWindhoek is, therefore, not Namibia,\u201d she said while addressing heads of diplomatic missions yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI implore you to become tourists so that by the time you come to pay me a farewell courtesy visit, you will be able to teach me something about the tourism potential of Namibia.\u201d<\/p>\n

She was speaking during the annual briefing of members of the diplomatic corps on various initiatives that Namibia engaged in during the last financial year through bilateral and multilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n

On the bilateral and multilateral cooperation fronts, Nandi-Ndaitwah said as for Namibia, economic diplomacy remains a crucial element on the charge-sheets of the ministry and the ministry\u2019s diplomatic missions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe continue identifying the economic sectors where Namibia shall has competitive advantages as we focus on attracting investors to participate in our economic activities to make a positive impact in the lives of our people. One of our priorities is to ensure food security,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cHence, agriculture will remain a focus in our economic recovery agenda, while we are fully aware of the main enablers of this sector such as energy and<\/p>\n

water\u201d.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Nandi-Ndaitwah said Namibia recognises the importance of a just energy transition.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe, therefore, wish to register our appreciation to all our bilateral and multilateral partners who have been working with us and assisting us in our desire to become a leading green hydrogen hub on the continent,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

According to Nandi-Ndaitwah, everyone has seen that the world is becoming more open as a result of several significant inbound and outbound trade missions that have taken place in the first half of this year.<\/p>\n

For Namibia, these in-and-outbound trade missions took place to countries such as Angola, Ghana, India, Nigeria, Qatar, Spain, Switzerland and the United States of America, to mention but a few.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to continue working with you on the trajectory of further strengthening economic ties between Namibia and your respective countries, and how we can link up our private sectors who are our partners in the realisation of AU Agenda 2063 and the UN Sustainable Goals,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
