Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Thadeus Ngundura of Popa village in Mukwe constituency in the Kavango East region is determined to show how communal farmers can also help to reduce the number of potatoes imported from other countries.<\/p>\n

Ngundura grows potatoes on half a hectare and uses water from the Okavango River to irrigate the crop. His biggest challenge is that he uses buckets to fetch water which is laborious and limits the land he can grow.<\/p>\n

However, the results from his current crop are impressive with the potatoes being even bigger than some that are imported into the country. The other advantage is that the potatoes are freshly harvested from the plot.<\/p>\n

Potato salad is one of the most common dishes served in Namibia, especially at gatherings in rural as well as urban areas.<\/p>\n
