Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Chairperson of the Junior Tennis Committee of the Namibia Tennis Association (NTA) Santie van der Walt has expressed satisfaction with the number of players who have registered so far for the sixth junior tennis tournament this weekend.<\/p>\n

In an interview with this publication yesterday, she said there are 65 entries so far across all age groups.<\/p>\n

Van der Walt anticipates more entries over the next two days ahead of the tourney, which will also see players from outside the country competing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have players coming as far as England, Angola, South Africa and Botswana. This will create exciting competition over the weekend,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The NTA usually hosts its bigger competition at the end of the year when they select players for the national team, and this competition is very instrumental.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt helps these players earn points to compete in a competition we host every end of the year, and the competition is where we select players for the national team.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPlayers are selected based on their ranking \u2013 and if they pick up more points during such tournament, they increase their chances of being selected in the national team,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
