Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>WHILE civil servants across the country go to the ballot to vote on whether or not to go on strike, some learners in the North are asking Government to intervene in the matter to ensure that they get their education.<\/p>\n

The learners composed a song, singing that many of their teachers went for the strike without teaching, resulting in no school, no school results and no examinations, which might lead to no future for them.<\/p>\n

The anticipated strike comes after the unions and the government failed to reach an agreement on salary negotiations, which has been ongoing since March 2021.<\/p>\n

The two unions spearheading the nationwide balloting process, the Namibia Public Workers Union (NAPWU) and the Namibia National Teachers Union (NANTU), are demanding increments in basic salaries by 9%, housing bene\ufb01ts (9%) and transport bene\ufb01ts (10%).<\/p>\n
