Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security has confirmed the reopening of borders that were closed due to the global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

This was announced by the ministry\u2019s Executive Director Etienne Maritz on 06 August 2022.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood news to all travellers, Namibia and South Africa will reopen the border post-Mata Mata, Vellorsdrift, Sendelingsdrift and Klein Manasse which have been closed since 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic,\u201d Maritz said.<\/p>\n

Maritz added that the closure of the borders has resulted in trade and significant socio-economic hardship for both countries.<\/p>\n

He said reopening is guided by relaxation of protocols governing the management of COVID-19 based on the decrease in the virus infection numbers.<\/p>\n

Dobe and Kasika border posts between Namibia and Botswana are also scheduled to open on 06 August 2022.<\/p>\n

COVID-19 regulations in different countries are applicable so travellers are urged to observe these regulations.<\/p>\n
