Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>FNB Western Suburbs and FNB Rehoboth’s battle for the knockout stage of the Namibia Rugby Premier League goes down to the wire in the final round of league matches tomorrow.<\/b><\/p>\n

After their dramatic 22-all draw last weekend, Rehoboth have suddenly taken the initiative in the race and they will be going for full bonus points against FNB Reho Falcon in the Rehoboth derby, while Suburbs face an uphill battle against FNB Kudus at the coast.<\/p>\n

Suburbs are still in the driving seat, lying fourth on the log with a two-point advantage over Rehoboth, but they will rue not having won last weekend’s match, where they squandered a 16-point lead before drawing the match.<\/p>\n

Suburbs coach Jackey Bock said he expected a tough onslaught from Kudus.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s going to be a tough one and they will want to take revenge after we beat them in the first round.\u201d<\/p>\n

On that occasion Suburbs beat Kudus 36-26 in Windhoek, but they have been patchy since then and Bock said their injury toll added to their problems.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are struggling with a lot of players injured like Demarcho Hartung, AJ Kearns, Dylan Isaacs, Diamando Tjombe, Morgan Esterhuizen, Bronwen Willemse and Dahl Cloete, so we will just have to make do with what we can put together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe slipped up against Rehoboth, we should not have conceded that lead, but I must say it was a great match and played in a good spirit,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Bock said a lack in concentration contributed to their inconsistency.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’ve had this problem of not finishing off throughout the season, it’s as if the players switch off and relax in the second half. We are one of the fittest teams in the league, we’ve just lost our concentration at times, but we can’t afford that against Kudus where the match will be intense for eight minutes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Rehoboth coach Gerald Loubser said they are going all out for maximum bonus points.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are two points behind so we have to win, we are very focussed on winning, but derbies are always difficult games,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a few injury niggles but most have recovered, while some players have family meetings, but it’s a make-or-break match for us, we have to win, and we will go all out to get a maximum two bonus points,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

That snatched draw maintained Rehoboth’s late resurgence, but Loubser said it wasn’t their best comeback.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a great comeback, but our greatest comeback this season was when we beat Grootfontein 42-41 after trailing 34-7. We brought on Cliven Loubser and Ascher Coetzee at halftime which changed the complexion of the game,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Loubser added that Cliven Loubser has been in great form since returning from the United States where he plays for the Utah Warriors.<\/p>\n

\u201cCliven has been in great form since then. He’s at another level, he has a high work rate, he’s physically in great shape, and he has vision and an eye for a gap. His experience and leadership is invaluable to the team,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Another derby is in store tomorrow when log-leaders FNB Wanderers host Trustco United. Despite having a poor season with only two wins, United nearly shocked Wanderers before losing their first round match 28-27 and could once again rise to the occasion.<\/p>\n

Third-placed FNB Unam meanwhile host FNB Grootfontein in a meaningless match since Grootfontein cannot make the semis anymore, but they will want to cap an admirable season during which they were competitive throughout, with a win.<\/p>\n
