Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>PREPARATIONS for the much-aniticipated Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) are currently in full swing, with local contractors currently busy erecting and setting up exibition stands at the showgrounds before the trade fair starts on 26 August.<\/p>\n

PREPARATIONS for the much-aniticipated Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) are currently in full swing, with local contractors currently busy erecting and setting up exibition stands at the showgrounds before the trade fair starts on 26 August.<\/p>\n

The OATF will run until 1 September at the Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre.<\/p>\n

Jackson Muma, the spokeperson of the Ongwediva Town Council, says at least 350 exhibitors from various economic sectors, both locally and internationally, are expected to showcase their products and services on the ground with the option of virtual exhibition.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe inclusion of the virtual-exhibition platform cements the OATF’s objective of being a proactive force and a vehicle of Namibia’s economic growth by promoting quality products and services through technological evolution.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe virtual format is an alternative method of online exhibition signifying the need to transform from the traditional way of conducting business to a modernised way of online business networking. Hence the theme ‘Gearing for a Smart Economy’,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Muma says the virtual fair helps organisations reach global audiences, and the platform also offers an intuitive virtual experience along with interactive features, such as audio\/video chats.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ready, and all the preparations are currently underway. Placements have already been done, and we are just doing a few touches on the venue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere will be tight security on the ground during the day and at night. This year’s trade fair will be different because it is virtual, and most companies and entities will be showcasing their services virtually. We will also be live on all our social media platforms,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n

Corporate entities, government ministries, small and medium enterprises, local traders, entrepreneurs, and international businesses, investors or organisations are expected to participate in this year’s trade fair.<\/p>\n

The line-up includes several business networking events, seminars and workshops, aiming to resurrect the local economy and propel economic growth.<\/p>\n

Muma says the objective of the trade fair is to promote trade and facilitate business interaction between various role-players locally and internationally.<\/p>\n

President Hage Geingob is expected to open the trade fair on 28 August.<\/p>\n
