Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>The Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) has denied allegations by Affirmative Repositioning movement leader Job Amupanda that it has suspended four more staff members in connection with alleged fraud.<\/b><\/p>\n

This comes after Amupanda posted on his social media pages that the GIPF has suspended a further four junior administration staff members.<\/p>\n

\u201cStolen orphans’ millions now passed N$30 million. Money ostensibly went to more than 30 bank accounts. The bosses who approved the payments remain untouched. The prime minister and finance minister are busy with [Swapo] congress politics,\u201d Amupanda said.<\/p>\n

However, fund spokesperson Edwin Tjiramba said the GIPF is a responsible public institution and if anything comes up, an official statement will be issued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last time we suspended two employees, we issued a statement. These employees were arrested. We are not aware of any other suspended employees. I cannot comment on that,\u201d Tjiramba said.<\/p>\n

The investigations are ongoing and once finalised, a report will be issued, he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI also do not know where the N$17 million and the N$30 million Amupanda is talking about came from. We did not give any figures to the media,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Contacted for comment, Amupanda said: \u201cLet them deny, but the truth will come out. Whether they say that my post is fake, I maintain that the stolen money now stands at N$30 million. My sources never disappoint.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, The Namibian reported that two suspended GIPF employees face a N$17 million fraud charge.<\/p>\n

The employees are being held in custody after appearing in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court two weeks ago. They are Martin Eugen Smith (34) and Fabiola Shirley Aoses (44).<\/p>\n

Smith and Aoses are administrative employees in the GIPF’s annuity department.<\/p>\n

They appeared before magistrate Desire Kamboua on a charge of fraud, alternatively theft.<\/p>\n

The duo has been denied bail and their case is postponed to 8 November for further investigation.<\/p>\n
