Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Former Plan Combatants Association wants to be recognised as a military wing within Swapo.<\/p>\n

The former People’s Liberation Army of Namibia combatants are gathered for a reunion at Ongwediva.<\/p>\n

The association’s spokesperson, Charles Mubita, says Plan was a military wing within Swapo during the liberation struggle and should be recognised as such.<\/p>\n

“We want our association to be recognised as a military wing of the party for our plights to be heard and considered. We fought for this country until it gained independence. The association will be sending 16 delegates to the upcoming party congress, and we have four candidates who are up for election at the congress as well,” he said.<\/p>\n

The former Plan combatants formed the association in November 2020, which is affiliated to Swapo.<\/p>\n

The association aims to organise and unite all former combatants who are still committed to the ideology of Swapo and to protect the party from evil forces. It also strives for the improvement of the members’ welfare and restoration of their dignity.<\/p>\n

The reunion of the former Plan combatants that started on Thursday ends on Sunday.<\/p>\n
