The farm is owned by Octant Investment and was abandoned by the owners, Somali national Abdulkadir Saleh and his local joint venture partner, Swapo Ndume who are now engaged in a legal dispute.<\/p>\n

The farm was one of the country’s prime date exporters to the Middle East. Marshall Ranges Sean Naude said little could be done to salvage the trees. \u201cThe only thing that could be done was to cordon off the area, allowing it to burn itself up while making sure the fire did not spread further. It’s a tragedy and major loss,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
