Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>President Hage Geingob has returned from an international trip that started on 15 September in Angola for the investiture ceremony of the Angolan president Jo\u00e3o Manuel Gon\u00e7alves, the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London, United Kingdom, as well as the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.<\/p>\n

At the UN, Geingob said the exclusion of Africa from the Security Council is an injustice, and called for urgent reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).<\/p>\n

The powerful body is one of the six principal organs of the UN, and it is charged with ensuring international peace and security, recommending the admission of new UN members to the General Assembly, and approving any changes to the UN Charter.<\/p>\n

In Angola, Geingob pledged Namibia\u2019s unwavering solidarity with nations that continue to bear the heavy brunt of sanctions.<\/p>\n

\u201cNamibia reiterates its longstanding call for the lifting of the unjust embargo against Cuba. Equally, we call for the lifting of sanctions against Zimbabwe,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

In his capacity as the chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security, Geingob met with former Tanzanian president Jakaya Kikwete and discussed matters of the Organ on 23 September 2022.<\/p>\n

The working meeting focused on the work of the organ, where Geingob highlighted discourse and consultations as indispensable to peace and security in the SADC region.<\/p>\n

The two further swapped views on the implementation of SADC Decisions about Mozambique, Eswatini and Lesotho.<\/p>\n

On 28 September 2022, Geingob met with Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar to exchange ideas, emphasise the growing importance of Namibia\u2019s partnership with Qatar and the need for the two nations to accelerate economic exchanges to grow the Namibian economy and ultimately address unemployment.<\/p>\n

On the margins of the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Geingob met with a team of Adam Global representatives.<\/p>\n

The organisation is initiating a programme of training for medical doctors in Namibia.<\/p>\n

In January 2023, a team of doctors in orthopaedics, maternity health, accident safety health and eye health will visit Namibia to kick-start the training programme.<\/p>\n

Adam Global further pledged ten scholarships to Namibian students to study medicine at New Vision University in the Republic of Georgia.<\/p>\n
