Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>LET\u2019S keep Namibia clean, let\u2019s keep our road reserves clean and let\u2019s stay number one, this is according to Chief Executive Officer of Road Authority Conrad Lutombi.<\/p>\n

Lutombi indicated that the roads have become dumping for refusal, which is not acceptable.<\/p>\n

In mid-September, Minister of Works and Transport John Mutorwa launched a national cleaning campaign with the aim of ensuring that Namibian maintain a litter-free environment and clean road reserve.<\/p>\n

This will also ensure that prospective investors and tourists are attracted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe plea with our road users that whenever they have rubbish or plastic to put it in a bin along The road when they see one. Our people will collect it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that Namibians enjoys the priority of being top one when it comes to roads, but if it\u2019s not taken care, it will affect the visitation of the tourists and investors in the country.<\/p>\n

At this stage, the local authorities have a responsibility to make sure that they provide dumping site in their jurdication at all cost.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, local councils are engaged to make provision for the needed services where settlements are established.<\/p>\n

Lutombi added that it is not the responsibilities of Road Authority to to clean the roads, but to ensure that grass and unwanted materials are removed from the road, for motorists safety.<\/p>\n

The campaign that was launched in Rundu, Zambezi and now Ohangwena so far, runs from September and conclude in November.<\/p>\n
