THE Australian mining company, Noronex Limited, exploring for copper around the Witvlei area in the Omaheke region, says samples collected from two holes dug at the Daheim prospect are promising.<\/p>\n

Noronex Limited is an Australian Stock Exchange-listed copper company with advanced projects in the Kalahari Copper Belt, Namibia, and Ontario, Canada, that have seen over 170 000m of historical drilling.<\/p>\n

The Australian company is partnering with a Canadian company, White Metal Resources, on the Namibian Copper Project.<\/p>\n

In Namibia, the Noronex exploration package covers over 5 600 km2 of the highly prospective but relatively underexplored Kalahari Copper Belt, which runs from central Namibia to northern Botswana.<\/p>\n

The Namibian Project comprises three exclusive prospecting licences (EPLs) referred to as the Witvlei (EPL 7028 and EPL 7029) and Dordabis (EPL 7030) properties (DorWit projects) that cover 78 000 hectares.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued last week, Noronex said hole 22DHRC027 intercepted at a 158m depth zone of 3m at 1,3% Cu with visual chalcocite, chalcopyrite with calcareous veining hosted in siltstones.<\/p>\n

The company further said samples had been collected in 3m composites and at 1m intervals where mineralisation was visually noted.<\/p>\n

Mineralisation happens when biomass is converted into gaseous form, water, salts, minerals, and residual biomass.<\/p>\n

\u201cSamples have been prepared in Namibia’s Australian Laboratory Services sample preparation facility and assayed at their South African laboratory,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n

After completing the two holes, the company said the focus of the current exploration efforts has been on the Witvlei project, comprising two EPLs – 7028 and 7029 covering 390 km2.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlanning is underway to drill Noronex’s extensive claim package to the east of Witvlei (towards the Namibia\/Botswana border), including the domal structure at the Helm prospect and the Humpback project,\u201d the company said.<\/p>\n

Noronex chief geologist Bruce Hooper said they intercepted mineralisation, as targeted down dip at Daheim, opening up the larger potential under cover at Witvlei.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking forward to testing this and other high priority targets to the east at the Snowball and Humpback projects for large sedimentary copper deposits in our expanding portfolio,\u201d Hooper said.<\/p>\n

White Metal Resources Corp bought the copper properties from Altan Minerals and Investments for US$37 500 in 2019.<\/p>\n

There are four licences, three of which cover about 65 kilometres and six copper deposits.<\/p>\n

White Metal Resources assigned Noronex the rights to the original earn-in agreement regarding the DorWit projects in September 2021 after receiving a C$100 000 cash deposit.<\/p>\n
