Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE old formation of Affirmative Repositioning will no longer exist as the movement is set to adopt a constitution this weekend at its national assembly meeting underway at Walvis Bay.<\/p>\n

Hundreds of activists from all the regions are attending the gathering to take part in the movement’s reorganisation, institutionalisation and formalisation programme.<\/p>\n

According to AR interim leader Job Amupanda, the adoption of the constitution is to decentralise responsibilities within the movement, and to have better control of narratives.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe realised the movement is growing as a symbol of resistance and sometimes we are attracting all sorts of people. When we were smaller it was easy to do orientation, give training and debate issues. Now because of growth, people just stand up and claim to be AR activists and indicate an AR position. That position is at odds with our ideological position,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The movement has also positioned itself as a leftist movement that will appeal to ideologies of communism.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don’t believe obviously in the extreme version that everything must be owned and controlled by the government but we also don’t believe that everything must be owned and controlled by an individual. We are identifying ourselves as a disciplined force of the left,\u201d said Amupanda.<\/p>\n

Beyond the assembly, Amupanda said the movement will start implementing resolutions to be taken at the meeting.<\/p>\n
