Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>TSUMEB Municipality remains focused on rendering a conducive playfield for both local and international investors to come to the town and do business.<\/p>\n

Hence, local business people descended to the copper town for the annual business conference to engage on how best they can expand and grow Tsumeb as a town.<\/p>\n

Town Mayor Mathews Hangula said this is done with the purpose of mobilising the people towards self-reliance and government resources to support local empowerment initiatives such as twinning.<\/p>\n

Hangula made these remarks during the Copper Festival Business Conference held at the town on Thursday, where he said that once the strategy is carried out, it will ensure development.<\/p>\n

He stated that the idea is to help the country and the government in realising the competitive advantages of Tsumeb with the development framework of Namibia by promoting tourist attraction gateways to Etosha and other surrounding natural wonders and, most importantly, the ingenuity and resilience of the people of Tsumeb.<\/p>\n

He added that the result of this diversification approach is self-evident as the town continues to attract increased investors\u2019 confidence, hence the socio-economic growth that the town is experiencing at this moment in every sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a spirit of an open market economy, driven by competition,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Town Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Victoria Kapenda, indicated that they aim to expand towards the southern, eastern and western side to ensure town development.<\/p>\n

In terms of land servicing allocation, Kapenda stated that they have already allocated 268 residential ervens in Nomtsoub extension 8. The area will consist of five business and general ervens and three institutional sites.<\/p>\n

She added that in extension 9, the area comprises of 293 ervens, four general residential, two educational and business ervens, six public open spaces and one institutional erven.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have kicked off with the construction of 12 units, of which seven units are completed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She added that they also intend to establish Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) and a fruit and vegetable municipal market that will consist of eight offices, nine kapana spaces and 96 vendors.<\/p>\n

Kapenda stated that the town is busy with upgrading it\u2019s sewer treatment plant. The construction of a drying bed, valued closed to N$3.3 million, has already been completed.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, she added that the snag list and additional works are planned to be completed this month.<\/p>\n
