Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>WESCO Group inaugurated its new head office at Walvis Bay on Thursday, after operating on rented premises for 36 years.<\/p>\n

The company comprises of two entities offering engineering and hazardous waste management to the marine, oil and gas, mining, fishing and general industrial sectors in Namibia and sub-saharan Africa.<\/p>\n

Wesco Waste Management is located at Walvis Bay, Otjiwarongo,<\/p>\n

Tsumeb, Lu\u0308deritz and Oranjemund, while a<\/p>\n

Windhoek site will be inaugurated on 17 November.<\/p>\n

Fisheries minister Derek Klazen said the country’s high unemployment is a symptom of a lack of opportunities.<\/p>\n

“As minister responsible for fisheries and marine resources, whose roots are firmly planted in this town, it is always a heartwarming to see business growth because it comes with great opportunities and ways to improve service delivery and product choice.These opportunities present themselves as much needed jobs, the ability to send children to school and general cashflow streams into this town, which remains a key catalyst for the growth of Namibia as the only deep-sea port in our country.”<\/p>\n

Company director George Fransman said they plan to remain committed to creating opportunities in the communities they operate in.<\/p>\n

“According to Pillar 2 of the Harrambee Prosperity Plan for 2021 – 2025, the private sector is encouraged to assist with Namibia’s unemployment. We buy into that to create opportunities for growth. We also put emphasis on skills development,” he said.<\/p>\n

Wesco currently employs 144 contract and permanent workers.<\/p>\n
