{"id":33901,"date":"2022-11-15T16:52:15","date_gmt":"2022-11-15T16:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/osino-reports-investing-n2246m-in-namibia-in-2021"},"modified":"2022-11-15T17:22:22","modified_gmt":"2022-11-15T17:22:22","slug":"osino-reports-investing-n2246m-in-namibia-in-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/namibia\/all-news\/osino-reports-investing-n2246m-in-namibia-in-2021","title":{"rendered":"Osino reports investing N$224,6m in Namibia in 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Regina Murphy<\/p>\n<p>THE Canadian mining company, Osino Resources, says it invested N$224,6m in Namibia in 2021, and employed 27 people at the Twin Hills Gold project in the Erongo region.<\/p>\n<p>The company released its sustainability report on Friday, saying in 2017 it invested N$444 million in Namibia for wages, drilling and geological studies.<\/p>\n<p>Osino Resources said they are working on housing for mine workers, skills development, renewable energy options, including solar energy and a battery energy storage system, as well as minimising water usage.<\/p>\n<p>About 750 people will work at the Twin Hills Mine, most of whom will be Namibian and many of whom will be from local communities.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, Osino reported recruiting 27 people under 30, and 29 other new employees from local communities, where unemployment is around 30%, while 50% of senior geologists are women.<\/p>\n<p>The report says 95% of the workers are Namibians, and 47% are from local communities around the Twin Hills Gold Project.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Osino Resources says they spent 92% on buying materials from Namibia, and that about N$2m was used as seed money to establish the Twin Hills Trust.
