Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>THE 2021 MTC Summer Cup 2 200m champion, Starlile, is said to be in exceptional form to put on another sterling performance at the Okahatjipara Turf Club in the Okondjatu constituency on Saturday.<\/p>\n

While Starlile is arguably the headline act, the rest of the line-up is expected to deliver in making it another memorable event, said Okahandja Racing Club executive member Sweety Zamuee, at the competition’s launch yesterday.<\/p>\n

\u201cStarlile is very ready for the showdown and we will feature six horses challenging for the placement on the podium,\u201d Zamuee said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor those who are wondering if Starlile will be in action, yes, the champion will be strutting its prowess and is in good form to deliver,\u201d said Zamuee.<\/p>\n

The competition’s hosts, Professor Supporters Club (PSC), added that MTC’s investment in horse racing had been tremendous for the sport’s development.<\/p>\n

MTC has injected N$300 000, with N$250 000 earmarked for prize money.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet me invite all other sponsors to come on board and invest in the horse racing infrastructure to grow the sport,\u201d said PSC club founding member Timo Muzeu.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Namibia Horse Racing Association (NHRA) vice president, Manus Hendricks, said the turf is in a perfect condition for racing.<\/p>\n

Partly cloudy weather is forecast for Saturday, making it near-perfect conditions for the horses and the jockeys.<\/p>\n

The event has attracted a record 80 horses vying for honours in the respective races.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe aim of NHRA is to ensure that horse racing is inclusive by taking the sport to each region of the country,\u201d Hendricks said.<\/p>\n

The event is scheduled to kick off at 10h00 with the main event billed for later in the afternoon on the day.<\/p>\n
