Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>LACK of proper infrastructure continues to hunt various schools in the northern area, a cry needing urgent intervention from all stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Of recent, the Omaandi Combined School has been operating its administration work in a small room due to a lack of infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Hence, the Nambian Fish Consumption Promotion Trust (NFCPT) through its corporate social responsibility handed over brick and cement to the value of N$60 000 to the school for the completion of the construction works of a new administration block.<\/p>\n

Acting school principal Sarti Anguku said the teachers had made use of a storeroom block as their administration block which she described it posed a danger to the health of the teachers.<\/p>\n

With the outbreak of coronavirus, Anguku indicated that classes were in many cases affected.<\/p>\n

She stated that the outbreak of coronavirus not has it affected the way they deliver education but most importantly in resource allocation.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur school was particularly affected and one of the ways that stood out was the lack of infrastructure including a library, proper storeroom, laboratory and administrative block,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She added that the construction of the new administration block will change both the school and the community for the better.<\/p>\n

Handing over the donation Chief Executive Officer of NFCPT Victor Pea said the CSR is most focused on education and when the school requested the donation it was easy for them.<\/p>\n

He stated that they are determined to meet government halfway to ensure that a Namibian child gets a quality education.<\/p>\n

According to him, since the establishment of the Trust in 2001, they have managed to raise more than N$6 million that was invested in education.<\/p>\n

\u201cEducation is at the core centre of NFCPT, hence our investment in education,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Established in 1988, the school has a population of 263 learners from pre-primary to Grade 9 with 13 teachers and two support staff.<\/p>\n\r\n
