Africa-Press<\/a> – Namibia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>FARMERS in the northern and southern area who lost their livestock and grazing land in the past few months due to persistent veld fires are currently experiencing rain in the following areas Otjiwarongo, Otavi, Gobabis, Ondangwa, Katima Mulillo and Okakarara.<\/p>\n

Odilo Kgobetsi from the Namibia Meteorological Services explained that these weather conditions are mainly due to a high-pressure system moving over the region from Cape Town, South Africa.<\/p>\n

Kgobesti said that storms have already started setting in yesterday in the northern and southern part of the country, and can accumulate from moderate to heavy falls in places, ranging from 15mm to 40mm.<\/p>\n

The expected good rainfall over much of the northern and southern region will further boost agricultural production. Kgobetsi added that the anticyclone \u201cHA13\u201d is collapsing rapidly, but that the ridge in the east will remain and will bring with it a last day of thunder showers for most of the north-east.<\/p>\n

An important consideration is that moist air is flowing in from a very humid Mozambique channel to produce a moisture front in the western interior. Kgobesti further noted that the process has already begun in Angola, and will spread southward through east Namibia during the evening to south-east Namibia.<\/p>\n

According to Kgobetsi, 36\u00b0C on the southern border of Namibia shows that berg winds are in the making as air blows into the low, but that they will not reach the coast where the winds remain southerly, or onshore as westerlies north of the low, around the Walvis Bay and Swakopmund areas.<\/p>\n

L\u00fcderitz will reach 26\u00b0C, with 14 to 16 degrees along the coast further north. High altitude cirrus cloud will be prolific over the northern half of the Namib coast, including the Swakopmund area.<\/p>\n
