Africa-Press<\/a> – Namibia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>VEZEMBA Katjaimo, the councillor for the Katutura Central constituency, has called for the return of Operation Kalahari Desert due to an increase in crime in the constituency.<\/b><\/p>\n

He was speaking at the recent handover of worth of paint to the constituency by the Ohere Rural Development Consortium and Neo Paints at the St John’s Apostolic Faith Mission church in the constituency.<\/p>\n

Ohere Consortium, a fishing rights holder, donated N$23 000 worth of paint, while Neo Paints contributed N$7 000 worth of paint to the office of the councillor to repaint houses in the constituency.<\/p>\n

Without providing crime statistics, Katjaimo called for collaboration between the Namibian Police and the Namibian Defence Force to patrol the area, especially at night.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am appealing to law enforcers that we seriously need urgent intervention, as criminal activities are in full swing,\u201d he said at the event. He said he wants to see 1 000 houses painted by the end of his tenure in 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe launched this project early this year, and during the first phase we painted more than 10 houses. During the second phase we painted 14, and now we have decided to take the project further by painting the house of prayer,\u201d Katjaimo said.<\/p>\n

Representing Ohere Consortium, Puvitanda Kangueehi said the donation was part of the company’s social responsibility to help less fortunate communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur lives are richer when we share, and great inner joy comes from helping others to better their lives,\u201d he said. Katjaimo said his office would launch the first Katutura Central 10km walk-and-run challenge on 6 November.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe goal of this event is to promote healthy living and a culture of exercising among the residents of the constituency, and to relieve the strain on the health sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Katutura health centre has a very stressful ratio of one doctor to 50 patients, but if our people start understanding the importance of exercising and living a healthy life, it would do them and the whole community a lot of good,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He urged medical aid insurance companies to support the event, as healthier members would result in fewer claims against funds. Archbishop Peter Tjijombo thanked the two companies for their generous gift.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
