Africa-Press – Namibia. <\/strong><\/span>Namibia joined other countries of the global south this week on matters of energy, security and development.<\/p>\n

The meeting, which was virtually hosted by India, was held under the theme:<\/p>\n

\u201cEnergy security and development: Roadmap to prosperity\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to a media statement released by the Indian embassy in Namibia, Tom Alweendo, the Namibian minister of mines and energy called for energy transition and laid out Namibia’s vision and strategy, encompassing traditional energy sources, renewables, and emerging technologies such as green hydrogen.<\/p>\n

The Indian minister for petroleum and natural gas, Hardeep Puri, outlined measures taken by India to maintain energy security through diversifying supplies, and increasing alternative energy sources such as biofuels and ethanol.<\/p>\n

He also revealed India’s proposal to create a global biofuel alliance under the G-20 to increase deployment of bio-fuels and its related technology.<\/p>\n

Puri offered to share experience and best practices to translate climate<\/p>\n

pledges into action together, and innovations such as patented stationery,<\/p>\n

rechargeable and always kitchen-connected indoor solar cooking system.<\/p>\n

The virtual meeting was also attended by energy ministers from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Libya, Syria, Vanuatu and Venezuela.<\/p>\n
